A unique estate “La Pedriza” with only one variety – Garnacha – producing 1997 bottles of Tudelilla (Rioja Baja) .
The line of work we started several years ago has as main goal to work in two lines in the making process of its wines; the first one is referred to meet the expectations of the consumers who look for easy-drinking and uncomplicated wines; and the second one, a more special line, of wines which are born from the terroir, with microvinifactions in large barrels that allow the elaboration of wines differentiated by estates and aged in French oak. In this way, only small-scale productions, which the land produces with each vintage, come onto the market. This is how Valdelacierva Garnacha is born; which by its owne essence it emerges from the “La Pedriza” estate with unique characteristics – with a harvesting process that begins in the estate and continues on the winery, where it grows as wine.
With a very attractive dense violet colour, on the nose it is characterized by fresh aromas with balsamic hints, with an explosion of fresh red berries and a marked mineral finish. Silky and soft in the palate with a nice walk in the mouth and it doesn’t leave any of its consumers indifferent.
Moreover, it carries the simplest label where only appears the brand name without any other distracting elements. In fact, it is the sense of touch which is the main protagonist here, playing an excellent role that in a special way portrays the sense of touching the land and all the primary elements involved in the process of creating this special vintage.
This weekend in San Sebastian Akelarre’s restaurant has organized a wine tasting of the D.O.Rueda appelation where our wine GarciGrande 2016 has been selected as wine of height. As for the wine and the winery, the article said: “Walk through the vineyards of La Seca and find those gravels in an impossible land where these wines come with such personality. From there comes the Señorío de Garcigrande 2016, la verdejo and the wine is deep, and it maintains the freshness. “In addition, the winery makes a selection of the grapes that come in. This is how vegetable aromas, dried herbs, peaches and anise are produced by fennel. As for its tasting: “Bright yellow with green hues. Intense fruit aromas, prevailing peach and apricot. Spicy hints green herbs and aniseed. Pleasant and subtle entry. Round and well balanced, smooth and persistent. Very elegant.”
Valdelacierva Rosé 2016 from Hispanobodegas was the wine from Rioja chosen for the frundraising event “Fashion for Relief”. The event took place yesterday at the Mandelieu Hangar in Cannes. It had the support of many personalities, from the fashion, cinema and music industries and important companies, such as Uma Thurman, Donatella Versace, Heidi Klum, Kate Moss, Lewis Hamilton or the queen Rania of Jordan. “Fashion for Relief” has as main objective raising funds for several humanitarian and environmental causes, a work that the model has been developing from the 2005.
Fashion For Relief was founded as reply to the Katrina hurricane and it mobilized the model´s friends and the Campbell´s designers to raise funds during the New York Fashion Week. In the following years, it has continued raising funds for the victims of other natural disasters (the Haiti’s earthquake, the tsunami in Japan) and it has also worked with other international charity organizations to raise awareness about the women´s health problems. But its growing approach to the millions of children trapped in humanitarian crises around the world is the purpose of this last edition, whose raised funds are going to be allocated for “Save the Children”.
Valdelacierva Rosé 2016, the wine chosen for the cocktail of the fundraising dinner, has not only co-stared with the best models and actors, it has also co-stared with the best champagnes and wines of the world. This rosé from Valdelacierva, the last one arrived to the Rioja winery of the Hispanobodegas group, got the attention of the fashion personalities because of its uniqueness. It is salmon colored, pale, with an elegant and expressive nose with aromas of fruit, prevailing the strawberry and the peach. On the palate is sweet, voluminous, well-balanced and it has a long and fresh aftertaste.
